Turbosmart StraightGate Butterfly External Wastegates (40mm, 50mm, 76mm)

Turbosmart StraightGate Butterfly External Wastegates

The Turbosmart StraightGate range represents a fundamental shift in external wastegate design.

Unlike traditional poppet-style wastegates, StraightGate uses a zero-offset butterfly valve, delivering dramatically increased flow, near-linear control and stability under drive pressures that overwhelm conventional designs.

This is not just another wastegate.

It is a different approach to boost control.

Why StraightGate is Different

Traditional wastegates force exhaust gas to turn 90 degrees as it exits the valve.

StraightGate does not.

The butterfly valve allows exhaust gas to flow straight through the body, resulting in:

• Significantly higher flow capacity
• Reduced turbulence
• Improved boost stability
• More consistent control under load

Combined with the self-balancing valve design, StraightGate maintains control even in extreme drive pressure environments.

Self-Balancing Valve Technology

The centrally pivoting butterfly valve is exposed to exhaust pressure evenly across both halves.

This creates a self-balancing effect, meaning:

• Less actuator force is required
• Improved stability at high boost
• Wider tuning window
• Reduced sensitivity to backpressure

This is where traditional wastegates begin to struggle — and where StraightGate excels.

Available Sizes

🔹 40mm StraightGate

• Compact packaging
• Ideal for tight engine bays
• Small to medium turbo systems

🔹 50mm StraightGate

• Most versatile option
• Suits a wide range of turbo setups
• Available in all control strategies

🔹 76mm StraightGate

• Maximum bypass capacity
• Designed for extreme horsepower applications
• High drive pressure environments

Control Strategies Available

The StraightGate range supports multiple control strategies depending on your build requirements:

Electronic (eSG)

• Full ECU-controlled boost management
• No springs or diaphragms
• Integrated sensors for temperature and valve position
• Maximum tuning flexibility

Pneumatic (Boost-Based)

• Traditional boost reference control
• Simple, reliable and widely compatible
• Supports single and twin port setups

Pneumatic (Vacuum-Based) (50mm Only)

• Advanced control strategy for specific applications
• Available exclusively in 50mm configuration

CO₂ Control

• Motorsport-grade boost control
• High precision and repeatability
• Ideal for drag and high-performance applications

Turbosmart StraightGate's allows you to:

• Maintain stable boost at high RPM
• Improve low boost control
• Expand your tuning window significantly
• Reduce the impact of drive pressure on boost control
• Achieve more consistent performance

This is especially important in high-efficiency turbo systems and high-flow manifolds.

Choosing the Right StraightGate

Selecting the correct size and control strategy depends on:

• Turbocharger size
• Power target
• Exhaust manifold design
• Available packaging space
• Desired control strategy (mechanical vs electronic)
